K.Mahmud Sattar

One of the banking personalities in private banking sector is K.Mahmud Sattar. His banking career commenced in the year 1981 by his joining of ANZ Grindlays Bank. At present performing responsibilities as Managing Director of one of the private sector banks, the City Bank Limited. Prior to his joining City Bank, he was Managing Director of new generation bank, the Eastern Bank Limited. During his six year’s tenure at Eastern Bank, he transformed it into a new generation modern bank. During two and half decade long professional career, he worked in important departments of banking. During his tenure at ANZ Grindlays Bank, apart from Bangladesh, he also worked in different branches in U.K., Australia and India. During his tenure in Eastern Bank he ensured profuse development in various fields including this bank’s IT dependent banking, modernization, minimization of risk of the time of the difficulties, restructuring of operating process and centralization. When the first generation bank, the City Bank Limited was in close supervision of central bank due to default loan and other reasons just at that time he took up the responsibilities as CEO. The first sanctioned bank of private sector, the City Bank Limited, is at present maintaining its service operations with 82 branches, all concerned are expecting that this bank would overcome all problems due to his joining. At present efforts are going on for recovery of the major portion of the bank’s loans by compromise.
